Palatlakaha Blueway Straw Hat Design

The Palatlakaha Blueway in Central Florida is a diverse, contiguous network encompassing all freshwater wetlands. It supports rich biodiversity and acts as a critical filtration system for the Ocklawaha River Watershed. Increasing development pressure in the area threatens the wetland system’s pristine nature. This hat was created as a giveaway item at Farm Races to tell this story and raise awareness. Proceeds at this event will go to benefit protection of this precious resource.

The design is meant to bring together the rich diversity of life that thrives along the Palatlakaha River. From the wildlife that call the wetlands home to the people who explore its waters by kayak or paddleboard, every element is part of a larger story. The animals, plants, and outdoor experiences highlights the interconnectedness of the ecosystem and reminds us that protecting the river means protecting the life it sustains.
